2017 Spring Registration Now Available for Hawaii Swimming Waikoloa

The long awaited spring registration for Hawaii Swimming Waikoloa is now available!

Kelly and Joe are looking forward to a fabulous spring session.

The April-May classes will be On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.

Tuesday and Thursday class times are:

  • Parent-Child 3:30-4:00 pm
  • Red 4:00-4:30 pm
  • Red-Orange 4:30-5:00 pm
  • Orange 5:00-5:30 pm
  • Orange-Yellow 5:30-6:00 pm
  • Yellow 5:30-6:00 pm
  • Adults 6:00-6:30 pm

Sunday class times are:

  • Parent-Child 1:00-1:30 pm
  • Red 1:30-2:00 pm
  • Red-Orange 2:00-2:30 pm
  • Orange 2:30-3:00 pm
  • Orange-Yellow 3:00-3:30 pm
  • Yellow 3:30-4:00 pm
  • Adults 4:30-6:00 pm

Hawaii Swimming at Waikoloa Pool

Hawaii Swimming is excited to finally be able to get back in the pool and work with their swimmers beginning this week, Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday.  It has been a difficult forced break, but now they are raring to go and can’t wait to see everyone!

Concerto Competition Open to All Music Students 18 and Under

The Madeline Schatz-Harris Conderto Competition, featuring woodwinds, brass, percussion, and piano, is open to all music students in Hawaii who are 18 and under.

Winners will receive a cash prize and be featured soloists in concert with the Kamuela Philharmonic.

Waikoloa Lions Club 12 Annual Christmas Parade and Keiki Festival December 10, 2016

Don’t miss the Waikoloa Lions Club 12 Annual Christmas Parade and Keiki Festival December 10, 2016. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at the top of Paniolo Rd. and finishes at the Waikoloa School, where there are craft and food booths.

There’ll be prizes for best decorated entry, with $100 for first place, and a prize and ribbon for best decorated bike. You can vote at the school plex.

The Keiki fest starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m.

Free Santa pictures, free games, fun and food for keiki.

Also, Snow Queen or King scholarship winner, doggie parade, and drawing for a new bike.

FLWR Waikoloa Walk/Run for Literacy Nov 12, 2016

Please join FLWR for the 7th Annual Friends of the Library-Waikoloa Region “5K Walk/Run for Literacy” Saturday, November 12th

  • 6:15 – 7:00 am Registration

  • $20 for adults (pre-register online),
  • $30 for adults (race day registration),
  • $10 for keiki ( 12 & under ) Keiki in strollers are free

Medal awards for top female/male categories: overall, 9 & under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+, Stroller 1st & 2nd (gender neutral)

If you haven’t registered, you can register at the Waikoloa School on Friday Nov. 11th between 4:30 and 7pm or on race day Nov. 12th between 6:15 and 7:00 am to pick up your bib number and t-shirt. Coming Friday to means that you won’t need to be there before 7:15 am on race day since you will just need to show up with your bib number pinned on, ready to warm up and participate.

There is also a Silent Auction and free Health Fair on Saturday morning starting at 8 am.


Eddie Aikau Essay Contest for 7th-10th Grade Hawaii Students

The Eddie Aikau Foundation is sponsoring the Eddie Aikau Essay contest. which is open to all students in grade levels 7, 8, 9, and 10 who are currently enrolled in public or private schools in Hawaii.

The subject of the essay is Eddie Went. The Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau was held on February 25, 2016. On that day for thousands of people around the globe, the world stood still! What is it about Eddie Aikau’s mana (strength, spirit, knowledge, power) that continues to attract worldwide attention? Give supporting examples and evidence. How has the mana of Eddie Aikau made a difference in your life? Give supporting examples and evidence.

Essays may be submitted in English or Hawaiian.

All properly completed applications and essays that are POSTMARKED on or before September 24, 2016 will be accepted from eligible students in each grade level (7, 8, 9 & 10). Essays for each grade level will be judged separately.
